New Feature: Broken Links and Expert Mode

Review past guesses to stay focused on what matters, or hide this information for a tougher challenge.

One of the most common pieces of feedback we have heard from players is that the puzzle can at times feel like a memory game. After submitting a guess, you see which links are correct and which are wrong - but once you start rearranging, that information disappears. You are left trying to remember which connections you already tried and ruled out. For larger puzzles especially, that mental bookkeeping can overshadow the actual puzzle-solving.

With this update, we are addressing the feedback directly with two complementary features: broken links and expert mode.

Broken Links

After you submit a guess, the game now shows you which links from your previous guesses were incorrect. You can see at a glance which specific connections you have already tried and ruled out, without having to hold all of that in your head.

This does not give away the answer - it simply shows you what did not work. Think of it like keeping notes while solving a crossword. You still need to figure out the correct arrangement, but you are not wasting mental energy re-trying connections you already know are wrong.

The goal is to keep the focus on the interesting part of the puzzle - reasoning about which nodes connect and how the pyramid fits together - rather than on memorizing the state of previous guesses.

Expert Mode

Not everyone wants the extra help, and we respect that. Expert mode is a setting that disables broken link indicators entirely. When expert mode is on, you see feedback when you guess, but after that you are on your own.

Expert mode is for players who enjoy the memory challenge as part of the puzzle, or who want to push themselves to solve with less assistance. It is a personal preference, and will be indicated via an icon when sharing your results with friends.

How to Use These Features

Why Both Options

We believe puzzles should be challenging in the right ways. For most players, the interesting challenge is figuring out which nodes connect - not memorizing which guesses they have already tried. Showing broken links removes the busywork so you can focus on the real puzzle.

But some players genuinely enjoy the memory aspect, and for them, removing it would make the puzzle less satisfying. Expert mode ensures that the original experience is always available. Both approaches are valid, and now you can choose the one that suits your style.
